He began in Argentina the studies in palaeornithology and zooarchaeology, directing the first doctoral theses on both topics. The current central topic of investigation is the birds and the mammals of the late Cenozoic of South America, continental biostratigraphy, as well as the environmental and climatic aspects of the Quaternary.
He is author and/or coauthor of 146 scientific papers in national and international publications with review; he has published 45 complete works in scientific events and 19 chapters of books. He has published 105 scientific communications in national and international meetings. He is author of 46 articles and of 8 books of scientific popularization. He has directed research projects supported by national and international organisms.
